Water Rescue Team (Stations 10 & 11):
Boat Training Schedule #1

  • Shallow Water Operations: Training will be conducted in the shallow water areas that define the Eastern SF Bay. Emphasis on boat handling and operations as well as selection of the appropriate platform and launch point.
  • Navigation I: RayMarine review. Emphasis on waypoints, building and saving a route, setting a track, AIS, animating currents, and MOB use.
  • Towing: Towing disabled vessels via hasty tow, alongside tow and stern tow. Emphasis on limitations of each ACFD vessel, attachement points on the vessel to be towed, transitioning from towing to anchor and breakaway procedures.

  • Rough water operations: Operate ACFD vessels during high winds and elevated sea states. Emphasis on both boat and crew limitations.
